It was a surprise to find an entry on May 20, 1911 that was written by Claire 64 years later, on August 20, 1975. The event of that day was significant enough that she must have felt the need to record it.

I’m 82. I’ve been married to Ralph Payne for 58 years. And they have been happy interesting years!

Well today I sold my Gibson Mandolin to James C. Truman for one hundred dollars. He is a third cousin of former President Truman. I haven’t played the mandolin for at least 50 years and someone should have it who will enjoy it!
